Reiki gives your body a break from the stresses of daily life, potentially helping to relieve tension and return you to a state of calm & relaxation. Once in this state, your body may be better able to heal any damage brought on by stress, injury, or disease.
During a Reiki session clients may feel waves of subtle energy gently moving through their body. Others may experience heat or coolness and perhaps even see comforting colors or have visions that clarify what issues are coming up that may need to be healed.
Others have specific emotions come up which may be tied to pain in certain areas or energy centers of the body. Reiki helps to reset the nervous system, clear energetic blockages and promotes healing on all levels.
If called for, I may incorporate the use of sound to move stuck energy, reset the brainwaves and calm the nervous system.
Reiki Level 1: The First Degree – Shoden $333
Level 1 is a practitioner's initiation into Reiki and is open to anyone. You will learn about the history of Reiki, practical uses for self healing, the aura, the chakras, the meridians of the body and about energetic flow and blockages, how to identify and how to treat. The focus during Level 1 training is on opening the energy channels on a physical level, allowing the practitioner to connect to the universal life force energy, which flows from the cosmos down through the crown of the head through to the heart and hands. Self-Reiki is the goal of the Level 1 designation, encouraging students to focus on practicing Reiki on themselves, thereby working through their own obstacles. Many times Level 1 & Level 2 classes are taught one after the other. I would recommend three months between Level 1 & Level 2 training unless you already have a working understanding of energy work and energy healing.
Reiki Level 2: The Second Degree – Okuden $444
Level 2 gives students the skills to practice Reiki on others and open the energy channels more deeply. Students also receive their attunement symbols during this level. There are five symbols transmitted to you in Reiki Level 2 and each one corresponds to a specific energy (power, harmony, distance, mastery, and completion). Students are expected to use these symbols to bring the universal energy of Reiki into their everyday lives in more practical ways. The symbols can also help people provide Reiki over long distances or send healing energy wherever it may be needed in the world. Ideally, Level 2 training should take place after practicing on yourself, family members or animals before going out into the community to practice on those you don’t know.
Reiki Level 3: The Third Degree – Shinpiden & Reiki Master $777
The Third Degree and Reiki Master are basically the same designation. However, some teachers separate Level 3 from Reiki Master. If you have been practicing Reiki for less than a year, than the Level 3 designation is right for you. The Reiki Master Level is traditionally considered the teacher's level, and Masters are able to walk away and attune new Reiki practitioners. However, many receive the Master attunement, along with the corresponding symbol, yet don't feel comfortable or practiced in properly attuning others—hence the distinction between Third Degree and Reiki Master. It is recommended that you actively practice Reiki on self and others for a minimum of one year before attuning others.
My own training...
I was attuned to Reiki in 2012, long before Reiki was a mainstream healing modality. My Master Teacher, Rocki Arambula, directly trained under William Lee Rand, of the Usui Reiki Master Lineage and is the founder of the International Center for Reiki Training. My energy healing training extends well beyond Reiki as the study of energy work and energy healing has been of vital importance to me over the last 15 years. Having a correct understanding of the different types of energy we are running is crucial to one's ability to properly channel healing to the client so you are not using your own vital life force energy, depleting yourself or causing deviation when working with others.
The mark of a true healer also speaks to the level of healing you have applied to your own life and to your own wounds, afflictions and challenges. It is important to understand that healing never comes from a place of fixing and that we are not the healers of others, we are merely the conduit that channels the energy to run through us to activate the healing power in others.
Having a correct understanding of energy work and your place in it makes all the difference in being of service to Spirit.
