Sound Healing is a non-invasive, healing modality that complements both traditional & alternative medicine and is a therapeutic modality in its own right. There are numerous techniques for curing what ails us through various sound modalities, and its benefits have been scientifically proven.
Think about how your mood can easily shift by listening to your favorite music, singing your favorite song or hearing a baby laugh. This is an example of how healing sound truly is and how it touches each one of us through our own connection to sound.
There is also quite a bit of scientific research regarding the methods of sound therapy and music therapy, founded on the principle of harmonic resonance that show that a weak, dissonant or unhealthy vibration can be modified or re-calibrated to produce one that is more intense and harmonious, thus promoting mental, physical & emotional health as well as raising our consciousness.
Sound Baths and Personal Sound Healing Sessions are wonderful, meditative experiences where the participant is immersed in waves of sound using the tools listed above. Book your sound bath today!

Singing Bowls have the capacity to re-equilibrate our energetic field. In meditation, they are used to produce a kind of sonic massage on the body. There are three types of bowls used for sound healing: Tibetan bowls, Alchemy bowls and Quartz Crystal bowls. These bowls, upon being struck, produce a strong sound vibration that produces a feeling of relaxation and simultaneously revitalizes us. The bowls vibration also help to synchronize the frequencies within us, and are great to use in the treatment of illnesses relating to mental imbalance (anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia), for alleviating physical inflammation and reinforcing the immune system.
Binural Beats & tones have also been used to produce different states of perception, generating effects similar to those of a psychedelic drug, but to a lesser extent by altering our brainwave state. These ststes vary according to the frequency and can induce relaxation, sleepiness, concentration, creativity, the suppression of pain as well as lucid dreaming.
Beta 12 – 40 Hz / concentration, anxious thoughts
Alpha: 8 – 12 Hz / relaxation, hypnosis, stimulation of the immune system
Theta: 4 – 8 Hz / creativity, light sleep, meditation
Delta: 0 – 4 Hz / healing, deep sleep, memory retention
Vocal Healing methods vary for healing with the voice. Without a doubt the most important is song. Pythagoras placed special emphasis on songs and with the help of his monochord he was able to confabulate that a sound is made up of multiple frequencies, imperceptible to the human ear but charged with hundreds of effects.
Mantras are often used in meditation, which are another kind of song by using a series of ‘seed syllables’ that use the repetition of their resonance to heal. The most well known is the Buddhist six syllable chant: OM MANI PADME HUM (The Jewel of the Lotus)
Tuning Forks, Drums, Rattles, Tingshas & Gongs
Are also used to clear the energetic field, break up stuck energy, bring our thoughts and body back into balance & coherent rhythm and to create a deep sense of calm, peace and harmony to our mind, body & Spirit. Some people, particularly those who have experienced trauma, may not resonate with gongs and can actually trigger trauma, therefore, they will not be used unless it is a private session.
Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Medicine
Plato himself tells us in The Republic that each character in life represents a rhythm and each accent a tone, both of which produce effects, either good or bad, according to our virtues. The human voice is perhaps the best example of this allegory, as language is transmitted, perhaps, it carries the essence of our virtues.
"There is no organ system in the body that is not affected by sound, music & vibration. You can look at disease as a form of disharmony. If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional & spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder."
